Before the Journey: What Preparation Actually Means

You cannot outsource the preparation. The container you bring into a threshold moment is the container that will hold whatever comes out of it.

The mistake is treating the threshold as the work. It is not. The threshold is the amplifier. The work is what you brought to it, and what you do with what it hands you back.

The questions you owe yourself before you begin

  • What am I actually hoping this will resolve, and is it something a single experience can resolve?
  • Whose voice is telling me I should do this — mine, or someone else's?
  • What in my life will need to hold what I bring back?
  • Am I running toward something, or away from something?

Preparation is not caution. It is respect.

You are inviting an experience that will not negotiate with your defences. The least you can do is arrive without pretending you have none.

The container you carry in is the container you have to catch what comes out.

Frequently asked

Why does preparation matter more than the experience itself?
Because the experience amplifies what is already inside you. An unprepared system meets amplification as chaos. A prepared system meets it as material.
