Meet Your Nervous System
The system beneath the story
Understand why your body reacts before your mind can explain—and build a more flexible path through stress, connection and recovery.
Enter the course →“The goal is not permanent calm. It is the ability to mobilise, recover and choose.”
You can understand a pattern intellectually and still be unable to change it in the moment. This course shows you what happens before deliberate thought: how the brain and body detect significance, prepare action, narrow attention and decide whether to mobilise, connect, withdraw or recover.
Learn the central, peripheral, autonomic and enteric systems without reducing the body to pop-neuroscience slogans.
Recognise activation, shutdown, appeasing, overload and workable presence through real body and behaviour cues.
Create a state-specific regulation toolkit and strengthen the foundations that make recovery more available.
Each chapter combines a visual model, substantial teaching, an experiment, a saved reflection and one optional science layer. You can move through the human explanation without being overwhelmed—or open the evidence when you want more depth.

The main course stays clear and human. At the end of every chapter, a collapsed science section explains the physiology, states the strength of the evidence and lists the references. No external paper-reading assignment. No wellness mythology presented as fact.
Every section distinguishes established physiology from useful clinical models and debated theories.
No. It is a rigorous educational foundation in nervous-system awareness, stress physiology and practical regulation. Trauma symptoms may require qualified trauma-informed care.
No. It explains why polyvagal language became influential, then clearly separates established vagal physiology from anatomical and evolutionary claims that remain debated.
No. The optional “Read the science” section summarises the deeper physiology and ends with references. There are no links or assignments to read original papers.
The course uses the same gated My Inner Foundation course entry as the rest of the member library. Progress, reflections and your personal plan save in your browser.
Move from self-judgment to recognition, from one-size-fits-all calming to accurate state-based choices, and from emergency coping to long-term capacity.
