Parenting from Presence Rather Than Pattern.
The work is not on your child.
You will not parent your child the way you intend to. You will parent them the way you were parented, until you do the work. Not perfectly, and not all at once. But enough to change the inheritance.
The work beneath
Parenting from Presence Rather Than Pattern.
This course is designed to help you slow the pattern down, understand what is happening underneath it, and begin practising a steadier, kinder way forward. It does not ask you to become someone else. It helps you return to yourself with more clarity, language, and choice.

6 Sessions. Plus practical tools
Six written sessions on how a child's nervous system responds to stress, followed by tools and quick references you can return to in the hard moments. Move at your own pace.
Children’s ability to manage emotions develops over time and varies by child and context. This session explores how a calm, responsive adult may offer support, while recognising that some children or families need professional guidance.
Breath is the one automatic body function you can deliberately change, which makes it a direct way to shift your own state before you respond to your child.
The explosive child is often a frightened child. How to read aggression as a defensive stress response, and how to meet it without escalating.
The anxious child is often mistaken for defiant or disruptive. Recognising avoidance and tension for what they are, and what helps.
Freeze is routinely mistaken for laziness or not trying. What is actually happening underneath the stillness, and how to help a child move out of it.
Notice whether a child feels able to express preferences and ask for help. Cooperation can have many meanings; this session explores respectful choices without diagnosing trauma or assuming that agreeableness hides distress.
Language reframes, 20 modern parenting tips, 8 daily practices for the regulated parent, in-the-moment scripts (including initiating repair), an observation reference, a flexible Notice and Choose check-in, and the research citations behind the course.

What is conscious parenting?
Conscious parenting is parenting with awareness: specifically, awareness of your own patterns, triggers, and unresolved experiences, and how these shape your responses to your child. It is not permissive parenting. It involves boundaries, consistency, and high expectations, but from a place of understanding rather than unconscious reaction.
Do I need to have had a difficult childhood to benefit from this course?
No. The patterns that get in the way of conscious parenting are present regardless of the quality of childhood, they are simply human. Parents with broadly positive childhoods still carry unconscious expectations, triggers, and patterns that were formed before they had children. This course helps you identify your specific patterns, whatever their origin.
What is 'repair after rupture' and why does the course include it?
Every parent-child relationship contains ruptures: moments where the parent reacts disproportionately, says something regrettable, or fails to be the parent the child needed in that moment. The quality of the relationship is not determined by the absence of ruptures but by whether they are repaired. The course addresses repair directly, including in-the-moment language for initiating it.
How is this different from standard parenting advice?
Standard parenting advice focuses on what to do: techniques, scripts, routines. Conscious parenting focuses on who you are doing it as, whether you are responding to your child or reacting from your own unresolved history. The course does not provide a script. It develops the self-awareness that makes good parenting possible regardless of the specific situation.
Is this conscious parenting course a video course or a live workshop?
Neither. It is a written course. There are no videos, no live calls and no scheduled sessions — you read it, sit with it and return to it whenever it suits you.
How long does the course take?
This is a self-paced written course, with no set completion deadline. You can read at your own pace and return to lessons while you have access. Course access is governed by your membership terms; it does not continue indefinitely after membership ends.
What do I get, and how long do I keep it?
You can read the full written course online on any device while your All-Access membership is active, including any remaining paid-through period after cancellation. There is no course-completion deadline, but access ends when your paid membership access ends. One membership opens every course in the library, with no separate course fees.
Does it matter how old my children are?
No. The course is about your side of the relationship — your triggers, your repair, your patterns — which applies whether your child is three, thirteen or grown.
Is this therapy?
No. It is educational and reflective writing. It is not therapy, diagnosis, medical advice or crisis support, and it does not replace working with a professional if you need one.
A course by Olivia Fox, founder of My Inner Foundation. She writes about what she has lived, worked through herself, and sat with in others, translating real inner work and years of supporting people through these exact struggles into language that is precise, honest, and genuinely useful.
